Come one, come all, to the 8th biennial


Woodworth Family Genealogy Reunion (2017)


The Reunion is scheduled to start the afternoon of June 11, 2017 and will end on the evening of Wednesday, June 14, 2017.  The location is at the Best Western Jacksonville Inn in Jacksonville Illinois.  The reunion rates are $84.99 per night. Reservations must be made by April 6, 2017 to get these rates. Please call them at 866-715-0006 and tell them that you are with the “Woodworth Reunion”.

Reunion Agenda[i]

Sunday - June 11th -Registration will start at 3:00pm in our meeting room.  After registration, we will hold a session to introduce the participants and layout the reunion agenda. Each of the following three days will start with a breakfast meeting to discuss the events of the day. 

 Monday- June 12th - will be our Woodworth tour day. The tour buses will leave after breakfast around 9:00am.  We will head out to Springfield for a day of activities.  Our main objective will be the Lincoln Museum. This extraordinary museum provides insight not only into the role Lincoln played in the history of the country but also the many facets of the Civil War.  We will also visit the Lincoln Home, Lincoln Tomb and the Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices. A buffet lunch in Springfield, will be at a local Golden Corral restaurant.  We will return to the hotel by 5:00pm.  At 7:00pm we will gather in our meeting room to discuss family events and some Woodworth genealogy.

 Tuesday – June 13th – On Tuesday we will caravan and/or car pool to Hannibal, MO, the home of Mark Twain.  This area has a variety of Mark Twain, Molly Brown and Huck Finn activities to enjoy.   As a group, we will be meeting at the Mark Twain Riverboat at 11:00am for a riverboat tour followed by lunch on the dock. After lunch we are free to participate in whatever we wish. Some of the activities include a Trolley Bus Tour, Local Museum and Mark Twain Cave.  On Tuesday evening, starting around 7pm. we will hold a meeting to discuss the future of these reunions and our fun Woodworth Auction, so please bring items you think other family members might be interested in buying.  The income from this auction helps provide seed money for the next reunion in 2019.

 Wednesday – June 14th is our “day off” day.  Jacksonville offers many interesting activities including a large Ferris wheel and a self guided underground railroad tour. For more information, please visit: .  For Woodworths interested in Ferris Wheels, you should visit:  a manufacture of Ferris Wheels and other amusement park rides. On Wednesday night we will hold our traditional banquet. Activities will start around 6:00 PM. This year we have a well known speaker: Doctor Steven Woodworth, the author of many books on the Civil War.  Prior to the banquet, please plan on being in the meeting room around 4pm to meet and greet Dr Woodworth personally.


Reunion Cost:


We are estimating the cost to be $105 for each attendee. This is based upon having about 50 attendees. Included in this cost is Melanie’s wonderful and informative booklet, Attending the Springfield Tour (Bus, Lunch, Entry Fees), Attending the Hannibal Tour (Boat Cruise, Lunch), and Banquet Dinner. Depending on attendance and other unknowns, this estimate is really an Estimate. 

For the Reunion Booklet - When you sign up initially, please also contact Melanie Woodworth at  If you attended the last reunion and that booklet contained all of the correct information and you don’t want to change anything, just let her know.  If you missed the last reunion, but attended earlier ones, let Melanie know if any of your information has changed and please send her a photo.  If this is your first reunion, please send Melanie your Woodworth line, address, email, contact information and a photo. – if you have problems with your Woodworth line, let me know and I will try and help you develop it.
